Scott and Elise

My brother, Scott, got married to Elise Knight on Saturday in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a great day, and the kids were even good for most of the day. It just happens that the part of the day when they were not happy was when we were taking pictures! The reception was in Elise's brother's backyard, so we were outside almost all day. The sign at a local bank or some such building said it was 106!

On Friday night, Tyler was talking about the wedding and wanted to know more about what was happening the next day. I told him he would stay outside the temple with uncle Brian, and then we would get our pictures taken, then we would go to a restaurant for lunch. I got to the part when I told him about the reception, and that people would come and tell Scott and Elise congratulations, good job, good luck, etc. Tyler said, "Oh, and 'you've come a long way'." I think he was remembering Lee's graduation. Welcome to the family Elise!!

Give Me a Break!

Lee had a two-week follow-up appointment for his rolled ankle on Friday. When the doctor from Instacare came in he read the notes on the computer and said we were doing a follow-up on the "fractured fifth metatarsal". Fracture!!! This is the first we have heard about that. Apparently the x-rays they took two weeks ago were not read until after we left because they were busy (we were there for about three hours), and nobody thought to call us! Now Lee has a boot/cast on that he needs to wear for four to six more weeks. The doctor said this is a tricky bone to heal correctly, so Lee can't mountain bike, water ski, or as he said "do anything fun" this summer. It's a good thing he did a Moab trip in March.

Death of a Flower

Last year we planted flowers in front of the stairway in front of our apartment. We planted marigolds that came back again this year, here is what housing thought of them...(see picture). Not really on purpose, but today they pulled them all out. I know they thought they were weeds because Tyler and Andrew confronted the two girls that were outside pulling stuff out. It is just silly to be sad or angry about it, but it made me feel bad to see the flowers wilted and on the sidewalk. We were just trying to make it look nice!

Secret Science Lab

Last Saturday we went on a special field trip. Our neighbor took us to the Chemistry Lab on campus. Tyler kept calling it the "secret lab". We had a great time. First he gave us all cute glasses to wear and then we were doing experiment after experiment. Here are some of the fun things we did: We made a volcano. We froze racquetballs in liquid nitrogen, and then dropped them on the floor (they break like glass when they are frozen). We mixed blue and yellow food coloring in water, and mixed them together to make green. Then Rob mixed two clear liquids (not water) to make it pink, and then added another clear liquid to "clean" the mixture and change the pink mixture back to clear. He also had a bottle of chemicals that we could shake to make it blue and then watch it turn clear again as it stopped moving. Tyler and Andrew even got to mix their own green slime that we got to bring home with us. Thanks Rob and Lil for a fun day!!

Makin' A Pizza

For dinner last Thursday, we tried something new. We made our own pizza. We have had pizzas lots of times, but this was the first time we made our own. I remember making pizza on french bread when I was little, but I didn't like that the crust was hard and the middle was soggy. We used large biscuts and they turned out really well. We had fun making them and eating them!

Arrr Matey!

Ahoy there! We got a surprise package left at our front door last week, and inside were some fun family activities. We all had a great time "building" our pirate hats and swords. Then Lee read us all a fun story we had about being a pirate. He even used his funny voice.

Mommy Shouldn't Get Sick!

Well, yesterday I was sick. That 24-hour yucky stuff. I had a doctor's appointment scheduled anyway and was planning on driving to Layton (where my doctor is) with the kids. When Lee found out I was sick he told me he would come home from work to drive me down, since I didn't even feel like sitting up, not having to drive sounded like a great idea. For some reason, I couldn't sleep most of the night, but now that it was morning and the kids were awake I could sleep through almost anything. I did get up several time to run across the hall to the bathroom, but then I went right back to bed, without looking at the house.
When Lee got home at 1:30 (so we could get to my appointment at 3...we really need to move closer to Layton!) Tyler was the only one dressed. Andrew and Emma were still in their pj's and Emma's diaper hadn't been changed since she woke up. The three of them (I blame them all, and myself...they blame Emma) had poured a whole box of cereal onto the table and then poured milk on top of it! They also dumped a whole box of colored Goldfish crackers on the floor in the living room, which made a big mess when it got walked on. In addition they also had a basket of clean laundry tipped over (and in the cracker mess), and several books off the shelf, and toys out too. After our trip to Layton (which included me taking an hour to drink a small Gatorade, because my doctor said I could take it slow, but if I threw up again I had to go to the hospital for an IV) I laid on the couch and watched Lee clean up the house. I love him! I asked Tyler to take some pictures of the mess, but the camera was on the review setting, so he thought he took some pictures but he really didn't. Tyler said he was sorry he didn't get a picture, "because that won't happen again for a really long time."

What a Pain!

Lee was helping some neighbors move on Saturday. He only made three trips out to the trailer. After he put his end of the dresser down he stepped off the trailer and onto the edge of the curb, which didn't work out so well. He ended up rolling his ankle. He hobbled into our house, took some ibuprofen, and laid on the couch with his leg up with ice for a couple hours. After lunch, we ended up calling a neighbor to watch the kids. I took Lee down to the Instacare for some X-rays. It ended up being a bad sprain. He is limping with an air cast. I'm sure it is going to take awhile to heal, but he is doing better each day. These pictures show his newest bruises, but most of the swelling (it looked like a baseball) has gone down.

Unnamed Baby...

We had our ultrasound done a couple of weeks ago. We found out that we are having another thumb-sucking girl! However, I was not nearly as sick as I was with Emma, so I thought I was having a boy. Having another girl will be great, but we haven't picked a girl name. In the last few weeks Lee and I have narrowed the list, but we still haven't made a decision yet. In the last few days, when I say something in reference to her, I call her "unnamed baby". It is driving Lee crazy! So maybe we will pick a name soon! When I told the boys that they were going to have another sister this was their reactions: Tyler said that now our family is uneven. He will have one brother and two sisters, that is not even. Funny, I thought two boys and two girls sounded even. Andrew tried to tell me I was tricking him, and that we didn't know yet if it was a girl or boy. I tried again, and explained that when he was at grandma's the doctor told me it was a girl. He yelled to Lee,"Hey dad, mom went to the doctor and it's a GIRL!" Lee said, "I know, I was at the doctor with mom."
